Responsibility of Members
To uphold (NDEBUMOG’s institutional) principles, mission, vision, ethics, and statute always.
Members shall not engage in any activity or conduct that will bring the organization and /or its members to disrepute.
Members shall not enter to an arrangement, contract or agreement with any person or organizations on behalf of NDEBUMOG or any affiliate (including Shadow Budget Groups) without authority of the Board, through the head office.
Members shall not use the name or resources of the organization for private gain.
Members shall be willing to volunteer skills, profession, or services, without remuneration in furtherance of the objectives, mission, and vision of the organization.
Members shall be willing to provide legal, financial, and moral support to people, who are victimized because they exposed corruption or protected the oppressed/marginalized in society.
Depiction or encouragement of violence against community, women, or society, must be avoided in engagements, programs, or activities.
Members shall not engage in any partisanship activities of political parties on behalf of the organization, expose the organization to political sentiment and judgement, and must resign, if continuous membership, conflicts with personal political affiliation or partisanship, since the organization is a non-political and non-religious body.
Members shall commit to provide services (pro bono) without private gains and sees that overall non-for-profit nature of the institution be maintained always.
Ethics, Conduct and Obligations of Members
VALUES:
All members of all affiliates/platforms, shall jointly, pursue a common value of volunteering and honesty.
TRANSPARENCY:
Openness in the conduct of organizational affairs and observation of laid down procedures.
INTERGRITY:
Responsive, responsible, professional, sensitive to the needs of others, tolerance and responsiveness to criticisms, and pro-activity.
PROBITY, ACCOUNTABILITY, ANSWERABILITY:
Regard office, power, and authority, as a trust, with obligation to render service and account of stewardship. Members and officials, must therefore, reciprocate by obeying organizational constituted authority and give respect to office holders.
SOCIAL JUSTICE:
Ensures fairness, equity and equal opportunity in apportioning responsibilities and resources, especially, to committed officers, members, and volunteers.
HUMAN DIGNITY:
Respect for human life and the human person and promotion of access to meaningful existence of all humans, especially, the poor.
OVERCOME FEAR:
All officers, staff, associates, and members of platforms/affiliates, must try to overcome political, human and survivalist fear in the course of their work.
RELATIONSHIP WITH GOVERNMENT:
Officers/officials, associates/volunteers, must see and regard government, as partners in progress.
Criteria for Membership
Membership into affiliates/platforms are open to individuals and organizations across Nigeria, who has exhibited high level of commitment against corruption, passion for community development, women’s right and (social/economic) equality. Notwithstanding this clause, principal organ have right on approval for membership, on the terms, which the Board, shall prescribed from time to time.
Other conditions for membership, includes:
Not having been convicted by a court of law, judicial commission or a tribunal for corruption-related offence(s), immoral conduct or indicted for taking part in crimes against humanity.
Payment of registration fees/prescribed dues/levies- if such, are in force within the organization or affiliates at any given time.
Accept and subscribe to abide by all the letters of affiliates byelaw, other policies, regulations, and Principal Statute of Niger Delta Budget Monitoring Group.
Accept strict disciplinary procedures, institutional administrative etiquettes, and respect for hierarchical order always.
Must be recommended by one of the members of our affiliates, prominent member within any anti-corruption movement/ACAs in Nigeria or a ranking staff of a credible Civil Society Organization/Non- governmental Organization.
S/he is not a frontline member of any political party and always accepts political non-partisanship and neutrality against (partisanship) political exposure.
Preference for membership, may be given to marginalized segments of society, such, without prejudices to misjudgments.
Other terms and conditions not here stated but which may be prescribed from time to time.
Membership Strength
As of December 2020, membership strength across all our affiliates stood at 433 persons, mostly women.
