- Status : The team went through Ikot Ekpene – Ikot Umo Essien- Aba Road up to Aba – Ikot Umo Essien Bridge- Ikot Ekpene – Ikot Umo Essien – Abia State Border. It was observed that there was no active ongoing -Special Repairs/ Rehabilitation of Bridge or New General Maintenance of Road directly or indirectly on this corridor. What was observed was only heaps of sand pulled up by Julius Berger caterpillar around the bridge. Two people seen there, when interviewed, said nothing has been done on the road yet, though the contractor comes around occasionally to inform them that work will commence soon but not yet. They informed the team that Repairs/ Construction of road is done in Abia State section, which is a few kilometres after Ikot Umo Essien – Abia State Border, which another of NDEBUMOG’s Shadow Budget Group tracked. This project was tracked on the 20th of January 2024. The pictures above showed the Abia Section that was ongoing as tracked by Uyo Shadow Budget Group and shared with NDEBUMOG’s Headquarters. Akwa Ibom Section of the project is as explained above.
